Adventurous Training : Bristol University Royal Naval Unit

Adventurous Training

The Royal Navy, together with the Army and the Royal Air Force, encourage all members of the Services to engage in adventurous activities and sports. An extensive programme of courses training Service people in these activities is available. Where sufficient spare capacity exists these courses are open to URNU personnel also.

Opportunities for Adventurous Training in the URNU are extremely diverse. We’ve organised our own AT such as Hiking Weekends and Paintballing Days as well as giving members of the unit the opportunity to go on RN programmes and expeditions, such as Bavarian Surprise, the week long AT expedition run at the Royal Navy Outdoor Centre in Germany.

However, the highlight of AT in the URNU is undoubtedly the Inter URNU Ski Trip which takes place in the Christmas holidays, where every URNU from across the country descends upon one of the Alps top resorts for a week of skiing, snowboarding and apr├Ęs ski – a week not to miss during your time in the URNU.
